This article examines the concept of ‘Itab al-Rasul, namely divine admonition addressed to the Prophet Muhammad SAW in the Qur’an, with particular reference to the educational exegetical analysis found in Salah ‘Abd al-Fattah al-Khalidi’s work, ‘Itab al-Rasul fi al-Qur’an: Tahlil wa Tawjih. The study addresses the misunderstanding among some contemporary readers who interpret the verses of ‘itab too literally, leading to confusion regarding the infallibility of the Prophet SAW and neglecting the educational dimension underlying divine admonition. This study aims to explain the concept of ‘Itab al-Rasul according to al-Khalidi and selected classical exegetes, compare al-Khalidi’s approach with those of al-Tabari, al-Qurtubi, and Ibn Kathir, and identify its pedagogical implications for contemporary Islamic education. Using a qualitative content analysis method, the study finds that ‘Itab al-Rasul is not condemnatory in nature, but rather reflects a form of divine pedagogy grounded in mercy, wisdom, and the formation of prophetic character. Al-Khalidi’s educational exegetical approach broadens the discourse of ‘itab from a theological discussion into a reflective and reform-oriented educational framework. The study further highlights the potential of these verses in cultivating ethical admonition, self-reflection, and dignified educational communication, especially in teacher training and the formation of insan rabbani.

Abstrak
Kajian ini meneliti konsep ‘Itab al-Rasul (teguran Ilahi kepada Rasulullah ﷺ) yang dirakamkan dalam al-Qur’an dengan memberi tumpuan kepada karya ‘Itab al-Rasul fi al-Qur’an: Tahlil wa Tawjih oleh Syeikh Dr Salah ‘Abd al-Fattah al-Khalidi Rahimahullah. Perbincangan mengenai ayat-ayat teguran ini penting kerana sering menimbulkan persoalan dalam kalangan masyarakat moden, khususnya apabila timbul salah faham bahawa ia seolah-olah mencacatkan kemaksuman Nabi ﷺ. Artikel ini menggunakan kaedah analisis kandungan terhadap karya al-Khalidi dan membandingkannya dengan pandangan mufassir klasik seperti al-Tabari, al-Qurtubi, dan Ibn Kathir. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahawa ‘Itab al-Rasul bukanlah celaan, tetapi merupakan bentuk tarbiah Ilahi yang mendidik Rasulullah ﷺ agar menjadi teladan agung kepada umat. Teguran tersebut sekaligus mendidik umat Islam supaya mengambil iktibar daripada peristiwa wahyu, kerana jika Nabi yang maksum pun ditegur, maka umat lebih-lebih lagi wajib menerima teguran sebagai jalan pembaikan diri. Analisis beliau memperlihatkan bahawa pendedahan ayat-ayat teguran adalah bukti keaslian kenabian dan integriti wahyu. Kajian ini turut menyoroti relevansi pendidikan ayat-ayat tersebut, antaranya membina budaya menerima nasihat, mengukuhkan kesedaran muraqabah, serta menegaskan peranan guru dan pelajar dalam proses tarbiah berterusan. Kesimpulannya, karya Syeikh Dr Salah al-Khalidi Rahimahullah menawarkan hujah kontemporari yang signifikan untuk mengukuhkan kefahaman masyarakat terhadap konsep tarbiah Ilahi dan pengajaran bermakna daripada Rasulullah ﷺ.
