This study examines the inculcation of moral values through role modelling in the teaching practices of Islamic Education teachers (GPI) for students with special educational needs (MBPK) within the Integrated Special Education Programme (PPKI). Although role modelling is widely recognised as a key approach to moral development, its application in special education contexts remains under-explored. Adopting a qualitative case study design, data were collected through semi-structured interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis involving seven experienced Islamic Education teachers. Thematic analysis using ATLAS.ti 25 identified four key themes: teachers’ patience in managing diverse student behaviours, the use of peers as role models, consistency between teachers’ actions and speech, and trustworthiness in fostering students’ confidence. The findings indicate that effective role modelling requires strong moral awareness, empathy, and sustained commitment, particularly when working with MBPK students. This study contributes to the literature on Islamic moral education and underscores the importance of continuous professional development and institutional support to strengthen moral value inculcation in special education settings.
